Day 21

EMP Museum
(Museum of Music)

Jack R really liked this museum.  He loves music and bands, so this was fun for him.

The main exhibits were Nirvana, ACDC, and Jimi Hendrix.

I learned a lot about the Seattle music scene and how much bands like Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Alice & Chains, and all of the other 90's bands really changed music.  Pretty amazing that they all came out of this area.

There was a cool movie exhibit room featuring Avatar.  That was my favorite part of the museum.

Little Jack loved it too.

Little Jack's favorite part of the museum was the sound stage and recording studio where you could play your own instruments.  He LOVED playing the drums.

Hey- sticks with a purpose!

Day 18

Woodland Park Zoo

The weather was absolutely perfect today for the zoo.  It was such a beautiful zoo!

I couldn't wait to see this guy! We were so close too.
No fences or glass, just a deep ravine keeping us apart.

It was the highlight of my day.

Little Jack could really care less about animals or being at the zoo.  He did manage to find a stick that became his entertainment for the day.  That doesn't surprise me.  He's never really been an animal guy.

However, there was a cool little bird oasis where you could hold a stick with birdseed on it, and the birds would come sit on it.  That was fun.

We loved this zoo.  It wasn't crowded or hot.  Most of the animals were out.  I hoped to see the male and female lions but they were resting in the grass out of sight.

And...another stick.

Last but not least, we found my favorite song lyrics engraved into a bench.
It was so fitting for such a beautiful place.

Day 14/15

Come Sail Away

We decided to get the Seattle City Pass and see as much of the city as we could.

This was a very busy weekend!

We went on a boat cruise around the harbor.  It was fun and super windy.  We ended up sitting down below but Jack enjoyed just looking out the window.

The Aquarium is right next door, so we went over and walked around.

Strangely enough, the aquarium in Las Vegas (aka the Desert) has a better aquarium than Seattle does (Fish City).  Hmm...let's think about that one.

This next one is my favorite pic of the day-

The sky was clear so we went over to the Space Needle.  I think Little Jack thought that it was going to be a spaceship of sorts and got bored after 10 minutes.  Nothing that a little starburst won't cure.

The "Sleepless in Seattle" house is on this lake.  Lake Union.

We were so glad the weather was clear.  We could see all the surrounding islands and lakes.

What a beautiful day!

Lastly, we went to the Science Museum.  We could have stayed here all day.  I'm sure we will return.

The best part...

The Butterfly Exhibit

This was one of the most magical places I've ever been!  It was a tropical room filled with all different kinds of butterflies.  They would even land on you, if you're lucky.

We had so much fun. I kept thinking about my nephew Kam and how much he would have loved this place.

Day 13

Cupcake Friday

Jack loves to make cupcakes, so we have decided that every Friday is

Cupcake Day!

Guess who else likes cupcakes?...

Day 7

Downtown Seattle

First we went to Pikes Place Market.  It's the oldest running Farmers Market in the U.S.
Beautiful Flowers and tons of fresh vegis.

Lots of fish too, but let's be honest...I passed right by that.

Then, the men in my life bought me beautiful flowers!  Only $10 each.  What a steal!

At the Market they have a delightfully disgusting wall called "The Gum Wall"

Then we went to a beautiful overlook spot close to the Space Needle.  It wasn't too chilly even though the sun was behind clouds.  We had a fun time.
The houses in this area were so beautiful.  It reminded us of the rebuilds in Naperville.

The "snarl" of Griff

After the overlook, we drove out to a beach just west of the city called Alki Beach.
And...
THE SUN CAME OUT!

And, Griff ate a lot of sand and got sick.  Awesome.
