Day 43

The Hoh National Forest

I have been to a lot of beautiful places in my life, but I dare say that this forest was the most beautiful thing I have ever beheld.  At one point along our drive into the forest, I was brought to tears by the beauty and majesty of this place.  It's unlike anything I've ever seen. It literally took my breath away.

The trees are primarily Sitka Spruce and Western Hemlock.  Most of them are around 200 feet tall.  Not only are the trees spectacular, but because of the rainfall and location of this forest, a unique canopy covering of moss grows over the trees creating the most amazing forest.

It rains 142 inches a year in this forest.  Seattle gets 34 inches a year, so you can only imagine how much rain this forest actually gets.  It is the only "non-tropical" rainforest in the world.

The day couldn't have been more perfect.  Days like this remind me that God is capable of creating such beauty and magnificence, that what awaits us in the Celestial Kingdom could only compare in quality. Walking along the trails with my boys could not have made me more happy.  I could have died and gone to heaven after a day like this.

Forks

What can I say?  I love the Twilight story.  I love a good story and Stephenie Meyer created a whole other world of imagination.

Because the Hoh Forest is right next to Forks, we decided to make a trip of it and see all of the movie sites. We had a lot of fun!  The morning we went around to see the sights, it was raining and foggy. That just added to the feeling of being surrounded by Vampires.

As the people of Forks say...

"Welcome to the Twilight Zone"

Forks High School

Forks Police Station

Twilight Tours

Bella's House - they filmed the inside shots here at this house.  The outside shots of the house were filmed elsewhere.

Bella's infamous truck

Jack being "pretend" embarrassed.  Deep down, he loved it too :)
